Adam Neeley

Adam Neeley is an American jeweler and goldsmith who treats jewelry as wearable sculpture, fusing art and nature into fluid, luminous forms. Working from his atelier in Laguna Beach, California, he is known for pushing metallurgy forward, notably with his patented SpectraGold alloys that create seamless ombré transitions of color in gold.

From childhood rock-collecting in Colorado to formal studies at GIA and Le Arti Orafe in Florence, he built a rigorous technical foundation under master goldsmiths before opening his own studio at 23, developing his signature flowing silhouettes that seem to hold gems in motion. His work has since been honored with numerous accolades in major jewelry design competitions, underlining his place among leading contemporary makers.

His importance as a jewelry artist is marked by key institutional recognition: the Smithsonian Institution holds his "South Sea Glow" earrings in its permanent collection, and in 2024 the Laguna Art Museum devoted a 25-year retrospective, "Modern Alchemy," presenting more than one hundred of his works. Other museums and design councils in the United States frequently feature his pieces, affirming his role in shaping a new vocabulary for high jewelry.

Neeley often speaks of entering a dream state where designs arrive fully formed: "I wake up and the piece is there," he says, giving his jewelry an almost cinematic sense of movement and atmosphere. His work reads as modern alchemy: technically masterful, emotionally generous pieces for collectors who seek not just precious stones, but a portal into a poetic world.
