Halcyon Arc Earrings by Hugo Cahill

One of a kind, White gold and platinum; larimar, navette and pear cabochons; 36 graduated turquoise spheres, 2.00–5.50 mm; G VS diamonds.

These white gold and platinum earrings trace a pale blue line that curves back on itself. A larimar stone, cut into a point above and a teardrop below, sits in a white-gold setting. Along the outer edge, thirty-six small turquoise spheres line a platinum arc, growing smaller as the curve descends.

Their name comes from an old belief: in the depths of winter, the sea grows still so a kingfisher can nest on open water. These earrings hold that stillness in a curve. Larimar is a rare stone found only in the Dominican Republic, and its hardness varies across the stone — a real challenge for the cutter.
